Adding a PDF Database Article

  1. Locate the desired article in PDF format on the Maxwell Library databases
  2. Save the PDF file to a desired location (e.g. your My Documents folder)
  3. Log into Blackboard and proceed to your course site
  4. Click the Control Panel link
  5. Click the Course Documents link under the Content Areas heading
  6. Click the Add Item button
  7. In the Name field, type the article name
  8. Scroll down to the Content section
  9. Click the Browse button
  10. Navigate to the location of the PDF file
  11. Select the PDF file and click the Open button
  12. In the Name of Link to File: field, type: Click here for the article
  13. Scroll down and click the Submit button

Adding an Article from the EBSCO Databases

  1. Locate the desired article in the EBSCO database
  2. Click the link to the article title to open the citation record
  3. Scroll down to the Persistent Link to this record: field
  4. Highlight the persistent link with your mouse. Right-click your mouse on the link and select Copy from the menu.
  5. Log into Blackboard and proceed to your course site
  6. Click the Control Panel link
  7. Click the External Links link under the Content Areas heading
  8. Click the Add External Link button
  9. In the Name: field, type the article name
  10. In the URL: field, type the following prefix: http://maxwell.bridgew.edu/login?url=
  11. Your blinking cursor should remain after the prefix text. Now right-click your mouse and select Paste from the menu. The EBSCO article link should be pasted in directly after the prefix text
  12. Scroll down to the Options section
  13. In the Open in new window field, select Yes
  14. Click the Submit button
