Using the Document Unpackager

Document Unpackager allows a Blackboard instructor to upload multiple items at once, as well as create a file structure for the content areas outside of the Blackboard interface.

  1. Create a new folder on your computer (right-click on the Desktop and select New > Folder) - or, you may wish to use a folder that already exists on your computer. This folder will contain all of the items you wish to upload, as well as subfolders. For example, you could create a folder titled "Homework" and have subfolders within it titled "Week 1", Week 2", etc.

  2. Once you have loaded all of your materials into the folder, you will need to compress it ("zip it"). To do so, right-click on the Folder and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) Folder. Now you should have a zipped folder on your Desktop
  3. Log into Blackboard and proceed into your course site
  4. Click the Control Panel link
  5. Click the link for the content area you wish to place your folder (Course Documents, for example)

  6. From the select drop-down menu, select Document Package

  7. Click the Go button

  8. Click the Browse button and locate the zipped folder

  9. Click the Submit button

  10. Click the OK button and you will return to the Course Documents content area. Your folder will be the last item listed
